How to make the pantograph

Drawings or drawings are printed, as a rule, the small size. Sometimes it is necessary to increase them. It is easy to draw straight lines of the chosen size on a ruler. It is much more difficult to transfer in the increased or reduced look twisting contours precisely. It is possible to change drawings and drawings, using special adaptation which is called the pantograph.

Instruction

1. For the pantograph cut out four levels of 610 mm from plywood in length and 12 mm width. Width of levels, as well as their thickness is not of particular importance. But you remember that what cut already more thinly out levels, especially the pantograph in use will be convenient.

2. On each level drill 11 small openings. All holes have to be the identical diameter (about 4 mm). Except two extreme, sign all openings with figures: 1.5; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 10. Values specify how much the drawing precisely increases or decreases. Let's agree that a level tip where there is number 10, the lower indicator, and the opposite end — the top indicator will be called. The distance between extreme openings corresponds to 600 mm.

3. Cut out a knife from a wooden lath or a stick five pins. Their size has to be such that they densely entered openings of levels, fastening two levels imposed at each other. Make 3 pins with the semicircular ends, point the end of the fourth, and, at last, insert a patefonny needle into the fifth an edge down.

4. Collect the square from two levels. Insert a pin with a patefonny needle into the lower end of the first level, and in the top end of the second level attach a pencil piece with the pointed slate pencil of the soft standard.

5. Impose the free ends of both levels at each other. Connect them a pin to the semicircular end. That the pencil well nestled on paper, near it load the end of a lath. For example, attach metal (the best option - lead) a plate.

6. From two other levels collect the second square. For this purpose connect the lower end of one level to the top end another the pointed pin. The opposite ends of these levels have to remain free.

7. Connect both squares the stayed together pins. Make it before you are going to use the pantograph for work.
