The acidity of the soil is one of the main criteria of its quality. It depends on prevalence in soil of those or other chemical elements and is subdivided into sour, neutral and alkaline, depending on size rn.

Instruction
1. Before measurement of acidity remember that on level rn soils are distinguished silnokisly with a range rn within 3-4, sour - 4-5 rn, subacidic soils - 5-6 rn, neutral - 6-7 rn, alkaline soils have rn within 7-8, and silnoshchelochny - 8-9 rn. This size changes within values from 0 to 14. Change rn on 1 unit means change of acidity in that or other party by 10 times.
2. rn with an accuracy in unit apply litmus paper to definition. On the site of the soil dig out a pole about 30 cm in depth, take sample from its vertical wall in the direction from top to down.
3. Carefully mix the soil and add the purified or distilled water. Ship a litmus piece of paper which becomes impregnated with water and chemicals which are washed up by it from the soil in the received suspension. Depending on the level of acidity of the explored soil, litmus will change the initial color. When comparing of the received color with the applied standard scale of change of color of litmus it is possible to define acidity of the soil.
4. If color of litmus changed and became red - the soil sour, pink color means average degree of acidity of the soil, and yellow - weak acidity. If color of litmus blue-green - rn soils neutral or is close to neutral.
5. It is possible to determine acidity of the soil by Klychnikov's method as follows. Take dry sample of the explored earth in number of 30 g and fill in in capacity with boiled water of 50 ml. Further take 7 g of chalk, paper and lower in capacity with a soil suspension.
6. Close a neck of capacity a rubber signet or a napalechnik, wrap up it in fabric for prevention of heating and carefully shake up. If the explored soil sour (rn less than 4.5) - in interaction with chalk is allocated carbon dioxide, pressure around capacity will increase and the rubber fingerstall will be inflated completely. If the fingerstall was inflated half - rn srednekisly - up to 6 and if the elastic band remained flat - the explored soil has neutral rn with value about 7.
7. Also determination of acidity is possible by means of special devices of rn-meters which need to be placed at a research in the explored soil - and it will show size it rn to within the tenth shares.
