How to measure tension

How to measure tension

Very often there is a situation when it is necessary to adjust operation of any given device. The master of the necessary profile can not always turn out nearby therefore it is necessary to be engaged in repair independently. But in order that the device started working, and you were not traumatized, it is necessary to know what you deal with. That is, you need to determine current parameters, and first of all – tension.

It is required to you

  • Voltmeter, multimeter, ampermeter

Instruction

1. Define whether you measure constant or alternating voltage. Switch avometr or a multimeter to the mode of direct or alternating current. Most often there is a need to measure tension sourceof food or electromotive force (EMF). Even if approximate parameters of this tension are unknown, at the initial stage of measurement the device has to be switched on on the mode of measurement of the maximum tension. Connect the device according to polarity.

2. After the first measurement if instrument readings are too small, the mode of measurement can be changed towards reduction of tension. The obtained data of EMF are tension developed on power supply terminals, but are not tension of a working chain as do not consider loading.

3. To take voltage measurement at loading, connect the consuming device to a current source. Include food and take measurement which results will become not the EMF, but operating voltage any more.

4. For measurement tension on elements of the working device, testers, voltmeters and multimeters do not approach as because of the low own entrance resistance of their chain introduce strong distortions in measurements and failure of an operating mode of the studied device. For such measurements the special equipment – lamp voltmeters or devices similar to them on field transistors having high entrance resistance is recommended. Such devices can measure tension of lamp and transistor devices even during their work.
