1. Take an airtight vessel, for example, a usual plastic bottle about 0.5 liters. Fill this capacity with water.
2. Get packing of usual office paper clips. Package size has to exceed matchbox dimensions not much more. Use such paper clips which are not covered outside with anything - either dusting of other metal, or a plastic cover.
3. Pour out all contents of packing in a bottle. Densely wrap a cover. After that forget about a bottle for several weeks.
4. After end of this period look at a bottle. You will find out that all paper clips became rusty, and around them rust flakes float.
5. Now open a bottle and put it about the electric heater. Surely fix it so that completely to exclude a possibility of turning. Wait for full evaporation of water from a bottle. Full - walls of a vessel have to be absolutely dry.
6. Now it is possible just to pour out flakes of rust and rusty paper clips from a bottle. Those can be removed from them which do not get enough sleep with easy percussion or a stick. Pour all contents of a bottle, for example, into a box with a cover. You received rust (iron oxide) in pure form.
7. With this substance it is possible to make a number of interesting experiments. Try to magnetize flakes, for example. 8. Measure iron oxide resistance. You will find out that it is very big. Also some types of this substance have poorly expressed semiconductor properties.
