Steel training as a type of heat treatment - process difficult and causing internal, not obvious changes of structure became. But along with it the tempered details receive properties quite visible: the increased durability, sharpness, smaller susceptibility to wear. It is known that correctly tempered knife blade or an edge of a pricker can successfully replace the glass-cutter, and the tool bought in shop sometimes also demands ""completion"". It is surprising that at such scale of the changes happening to steel the training in nonprofessional conditions is quite possible. And the principle of all (not only house) methods of training consists in a steel warming up up to the certain temperature and the subsequent fast cooling. There are 2 most available ways.
It is required to you
- * detail for training;
- * the container with any lubricating oil correlated to the detail size;
- * the container with cold water correlated to the detail size;
- * pincers;
- * sealing wax;
- * fire (furnace, gas burner)
Instruction
1. For training in both ways for a start the detail should be warmed properly. Take it and put in a fire on coals. If there is no fire - heat a torch or on a plate. But consider that for process of training of steel coals as their temperature considerably exceeds temperature which can be received on a torch or a plate are strongly recommended. After a while (for example, for knife ""warming up"" you will need about 10-15 minutes) the detail will gain bright crimson color which means that necessary temperature is reached. Pincers take out fire detail.
2. According to the first way, 2 times in a row at an interval of 2-3 seconds dip it into the container with oil, having left there at the first immersion for 3-4 seconds, at the second - for 5-6 seconds. Then lower a detail in the container with water for final cooling.
3. Working by the second, more ""compact"" method, after heating ship a detail in sealing wax. At once take out and repeat this action until your detail does not cool down so that will cease to get into sealing wax.
