How to train memory and attention?

All people have memory, but many say that it at them bad. Nevertheless, this statement is not absolutely right: memory is not bad - just incorrectly use it.

Doubting the memory, people trust it less. Therefore, it works less. And works less – cease to use it. To break off this vicious circle, maintain memory in an active state.

Also do not think that mechanical storing is already a memory training, its work depends also on attention therefore take care also of it!

Attention – a memory cutter

Montaigne drew a right conclusion, having compared attention to the cutter leaving an accurate mark in our memory. For storing it is very important to concentrate, without distracting, without departuring thoughts.

That is why many exercises are used for development and a training of memory and attention at the same time. They demand from the person of concentration which helps to remember even the most imperceptible nuances or the facts subsequently.

Here is how it is possible to train memory and attention at the same time:

Take any subject and attentively you look at it 30 seconds, without distracting either a look, or thoughts. Then close eyes and reproduce the seen image in mind. If some details are not remembered accurately, look once again. Again close eyes and try to reproduce mentally remembered object – until its image it becomes made accurate.

Remember last day in all details. List in detail everything that happened to you, without distracting and doing not miss any event. The detailed description of day has to turn out and if something was forgotten, have a rest and return to a task in half an hour.

And here 2 exercises for attention (we will give memory rest so far):

Return account. Consider from 200 to 1, taking away from each following number 3: 200, 197, 194, 191, 188, etc.

Sound experience. Listen to something, reducing gradually loudness to the minimum limit – but that it was possible to sort that is told. The low sound forces to concentrate extremely. Do not carry out this exercise longer than 3 minutes.

And now – 3 conditions for easy storing:

Sometimes we use them, without suspecting about it: the speech about an impression, association and repetition.

Remembering something, create bright images, emotionally paint the perception. Connect it with some fact which you already remember, or with an event which precisely will take place. It is not obligatory to create logical communications, sometimes strange and ridiculous associations help to remember much better.

For example, you need to put the razor in a suitcase, gathering in a trip. Present that you take a suitcase and shave it with the razor. When time to stack things comes and you will get a suitcase, you remember that it is necessary to take the razor.

Repetition is very important for good storing. But consider that mechanical memory which leans on it is best of all developed at children and with age dies away. Therefore remembering, surely use associations and concentration as to train memory and attention – means to use them for designated purpose, but not to encumber without advantage.

Care for attention and memory

The tired, uneasy and unexercised person hardly concentrates. Provide good conditions for the mental work:

  1. Get enough sleep – after a dream the brain works better. Be in the fresh air, arrange pauses in work, opening a window and airing the room.
  2. With care use drugs – some calming, soothing, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic medicines can cause temporary loss of memory and concentration.
  3. Do not abuse alcohol and smoking – they worsen work of a brain.
  4. And if you thought how to train memory and attention, just allow them to work and care for them. Do not try to load yourself at once and in large quantities. Be engaged with pleasure, small portions, with breaks.
  5. And how many to you there would be no years – be sure of the reliable memory and obedient attention!
