How to transfer hectare to square kilometer

Standard unit of measure of the area is the square meter and also multiple unit – square kilometer. However at measurement of land area the square meters and kilometers are used seldom. In Russia such units as are (hundred part, hundred square meters) and hectare are usually applied (hundred are). If land area is set in hectares, then it can easily be transferred to square kilometers.

It is required to you

Instruction

1. To translate the area measured in hectares of square kilometers, divide the number of hectares into 100 (or increase by 0.01). In the form of a formula this rule will look as follows: KKK = Kg / 100ilikkk = Kg * 0.01gde: The KKK is the number of square kilometers, the Kg is the number of hectares.

2. Example: the area of the field is 10 hectares. Question: to how many square kilometers does the area of this field equal? Decision: 10 * 0.01 = 0.1. Answer: the area of the field – 0.1 square kilometers.

3. If near at hand there is no calculator, then for transfer of hectares to square kilometers take paper and a pencil. Then just transfer a decimal point in number of hectares to two figures to the left: 123.456-> 1.23456, that is 123.456 hectares correspond 1.23456 square kilometers.

4. If two figures are not to the left of a decimal point, then previously add number with non-significant zero: 1.23456-> 001.23456-> 0.0123456.

5. If decimal point among hectares not in general (i.e. the number of hectares – whole), then attribute this point to the right of number and you transfer it as it is described above, i.e.: 123456-> 123456,-> 1234.56ili1-> 1,-> 001,-> 0.01

6. If the number of square kilometers (as in the last example) turned out less than unit, then the result will be sometimes more evident to look in square meters. When translating the area from square kilometers of square meters consider that in one square kilometer – one million square meters. I.e. the number of kilometers in a square will need to be increased by 1000000. Then 0.01 km² from the previous example can be written down as: 0.01 * 1000000 = 10000 (m²). Thus, leaves that one hectare equals to ten thousand square meters.

7. Not to get confused when translating the area from some units in others, use the following plate: 1 are = 1 "hundred part" = 100 m² = 0.0001 km²; 1 hectares = the 100th are = 100 "hundred parts" = 10000 m² = 0.01 km².
