The joule is the unit of measure of amount of heat used in the International System of Units (SI - Systeme International d'Unites). It is more often used in physics, and in the heating engineer the stand-alone unit of measure with the name "calorie" has bigger distribution. Parallel existence of these units causes the necessity of converting of sizes from one in another from time to time.
Instruction
1. Keep in mind that now in parallel there are two determination of calorie, one of which is called "thermochemical calorie", and another - "the international calorie". For recalculation joulesof in calorie thermochemical it is necessary to use a ratio in which 1 joule is approximately equal 0.239005736 calories. At recalculation in the international calories this coefficient has to be changed to value 0.238845897.
2. Use the standard Windows calculator for practical recalculation of some units in others. The reference to its start is placed in the OS main menu - click the Start-up button (or press the WIN key), pass into the section "All Programs", and from it - into the subsection "Standard". The necessary point in this subsection and is called - "Calculator". Instead of travel according to the menu for the same purpose it is possible to use dialogue of start of programs - press a combination of the keys WIN + R, enter the calc team and press Enter.
3. Open the section "Look" in the menu of the calculator and select the Translation of Sizes item. The left panel with drop-down lists of units of measure will be added to its interface.
4. Choose in the list under the inscription "Category" the line "Energy". In the Initial Size list establish "joule". In the Final Size list click "kilocalorie".
5. Enter value of initial size in joules and press the Translate button. The calculator will convert the set number into the international kilocalories. For transfer of number to calories increase result by one thousand.
6. Use online calculators if for some reason or other you do not want to use system. There is a lot of such services in network, even the Google search engine has the built-in converter of sizes now. In this searcher it is enough to formulate request for calculation directly in the entry field of a search query and the result will be shown at once, without pressing of any buttons. Google uses for recalculation coefficient for thermochemical calories.
