Power is expressed not only in watts, but also in derivative units: micro and milliwatts, kilowatts, megawatts. The designations "MW" and "MW" are inadequate: the first designates milliwatt, and the second - megawatt.
Instruction
1. If in the designation "MVt" the first capital letter, a statement of the problem is in transferring kilowatts to megawatts. One kilowatt is equal to one thousand watts, and one megawatt - to one million watts, so, one thousand kilowatts. So that to transfer the power expressed in kilowatts to megawatts, divide required size into one thousand, for example: 15 kW = (15/1000) MW of =0.015 MW.
2. If in the designation "MW" the first capital letter, a statement of the problem is in transferring kilowatts to milliwatts. One milliwatt represents one thousand share of watt so that to transfer the power expressed in kilowatts to milliwatts, increase required size by one million, for example: 15 kW = (15*1000000) MW of =15000000 MW.
3. Do not express power (and other physical quantities) in units of measure improper for this purpose needlessly. Units at expression of size in which too small or too large numbers turn out are considered as improper. With such numbers it is inconvenient to carry out mathematical operations.
4. If size nevertheless needs to be expressed in improper units, use an exponential method of representation of numbers. For example, number 15000000 from the previous example can be expressed as 1.5*10^7. In such look concerning value of power or other size it is convenient to carry out calculations by means of the scientific calculator which, unlike usual, is adapted for work with such representation of numbers.
5. If you solve a problem where at least a part of sizes (tension, current, resistance, power, etc.) are expressed in stand-alone units, in the beginning transfer all data to the SI system (in particular, transfer power to watts), then solve a problem, and only after it transfer result to convenient units. If not to make it in advance, definition of an order of result and units in which it is expressed considerably becomes complicated.
