Response – the literature genre combining art and scientific approach. The author of a response has to analyze any given work from the "anatomic" point of view: to define its genre, to call art means of expression, to reveal motives of behavior of heroes and the author, to find communication with a historical context. For the author of a response it is an opportunity to develop in themselves talent of the analyst, and for the reader – an opportunity to get acquainted with the work before reading.
Instruction
1. Give the historical curriculum vitae about the author: when he lived, than was engaged. It will be interesting to your reader to learn that the storyteller Hoffman wrote music to performances and operas, and it is even more interesting to learn where it is possible to listen to this music. In the same part tell about political views of the author and about political forces of his time and the country.
2. Describe the history of creation of the analyzed work: date, place, people, prototypes of heroes.
3. Define genre features of the work and give definition of a genre. Tell what features were inherent in it during the author's era. Explain that new the author in this genre introduced and in what decided to observe traditions. Perhaps, he became the founder of this genre, it needs to be specified and proved too.
4. For performing temporary art form (music, dance, literature, theater, cinema) state a work plot according to the scheme: an exposition – a tie – the culmination – an outcome – the final. Give characteristic to heroes. For the work architectural, art, sculptural and photoarts (spatial types) describe an essence of represented.
5. Transfer the used funds of expressiveness: color, form, stylization, melodics, harmony, shot borders, speech, manners and other.
6. Draw a historical analogy between life of the author and the present. Explain why the work remains relevant to this day and what meaning readers, the audience, listeners can make out of it.
