On Earth there are changes, both insignificant, and global all the time. Change of climate and the nature is caused not only natural causes. A lot of things are defined also by activity of people. Hunting for animals, contamination of places of their natural dwelling, deforestation – all this negatively affects planet fauna. Human activity led to the fact that some animal species simply died out.
"Black book" of fauna
Animals not only suffer from human activity, but also in the most literal sense of this word disappear. Every day "black list" of representatives of fauna who are on the verge of extinction grows.
According to the nature protection organizations and researchers of the nature, for the last five centuries not less than eight hundred animal species completely died out.
Only last century the mankind began to realize that destruction of rare animals – the most true vandalism in relation to wildlife. Today active steps are taken for preservation of the types which approached an extinction side. Unfortunately, it not always manages to be made, especially if biologists, trying to restore population of any given look, deal only with several couples of individuals.
They died out because of the person
One of the most known animals who disappeared last century – a marsupial a tasmaniysky wolf, or tilatsin. It resembled a big dog with strips on a back and a long tail superficially. Several centuries ago tilatsin it was widespread on the island of Tasmania. In the 19th century on an animal who was mistakenly considered by the fighter of sheep the hunting began. Mass destruction of a marsupial of a wolf led to the fact that at the beginning of the last century all wild individuals disappeared, and in 1936 the last animal who was contained in bondage died. One more of the animals exterminated by people – a kvagga which is carried to a species of zebras. These one-hoofed animals lived in the southern part of Africa. A back part of an animal very much reminded a horse croup, and in front the kvagga could be taken for an ordinary zebra. The strong skin of a unique African zebra promoted that hunters showed to it keen interest. The last kvagga died in a city zoo of Amsterdam at the end of the 19th century. It was not lucky also some representatives of birds. A dodo – one of unique birds living only on the island of Mauritius and who is considered as the relative of pigeons. With emergence on the island in the 16th age of the person this bird began to be eaten widely. Not at once it was noticed that this look differing in delicious meat simply disappeared.
Subsequently the dodo became a symbol of Mauritius, having decorated the coat of arms of this country.
The fate of the so-called wandering pigeon is not less tragic. In days of old infinite packs of these birds turned in the sky of North America. They differed in special gluttony, destroying not only mean insects, but also and berry, fruit, nuts. The similar behavior did not please the American farmers who declared on birds real war. Having caught sight of pack of pigeons, people armed with guns, stones and slingshots. Beat so many pigeons how many could. The bird was eaten, and even just fed to dogs. The last wandering pigeon finished the days in one of zoos at the beginning of the last century. The next, but not the last line in "the black book" of the planet was so entered.
