The Arctic - the extensive region of our planet in the territory of which, despite severe climate, a large number of unique animals - polar bears, polar foxes, reindeers, musk oxen and many other types lives.

1. White, or polar, a bear - one of the most famous representatives of the Arctic fauna. Length of his body can reach 3 meters in length, and weight - 1 tons. Polar bears live in a coastal zone as the main source of food for them is the sea in which they catch fish and seals. Polar bears are strictly protected international by the legislation as are considered as an endangered species. The number of polar bears is reduced because of warming of climate and reduction of a surface of the Arctic ices.
2. Arctic musk oxen very beautiful mighty animals. In spite of the fact that they are called musk oxen, scientists carry them to group of goat. Musk oxen possess a dense underfur which is 8 times warmer mutton, from above an underfur long dense wool grows. Such natural fur coat makes a musk ox insensitive to the most terrible frosts. On the head of a musk ox, besides horns, there is a powerful bone consolidation, with its help these animals are protected from predators.
3. The polar fox - a small Arctic predator, length of his body seldom reaches 30 cm. Despite the small sizes, polar foxes attack larger, than they, herbivores. Musk oxen can even become their production. Fur of a polar fox is appreciated around the world.
4. Lemmings are small rodents who are the main forage for polar wolves, gluttons, polar foxes, polar owls. Even reindeers sometimes eat lemmings. The number of population of many other animals of the tundra depends on quantity of lemmings.
5. Reindeers generally eat a reindeer lichen, and they can guess it under snow. Reindeers constantly wander on the tundra therefore the reindeer lichen is not destroyed, and constantly renews in those territories where there are no deer at present. Reindeers have the special device of hooves which allows them to run easily on snow. Reindeers are cultivated by the person, they are very important for survival of indigenous people of the North.
6. During the summer period a large number of migratory birds nests in the tundra.
