Nikolay Ivanovich Vavilov was a great scientist. He was engaged in geography, botany, genetics, biology. This person became the founder of modern selection.
For many years all considered that the botany is engaged only in studying plants. Many hundreds of identical plant species and their grades were open and described. But all this was just big reference book which it was rather difficult to understand.
Really great mind was necessary to find comparative similarities and dissimilarities in different samples of plants, to put this chaos in order. And Nikolay Ivanovich Vavilov could make it. He was born 25.11.1887, and died 26.01.1943. He was the Soviet plant breeder, the geographer, the geneticist, also he created modern scientific bases of selection.
