The zodiac includes twelve constellations, each of which possesses the name and a form reminds a human or animal figure. These constellations have own stories which reached the present in the form of legends and myths.
The biggest zodiac constellation
The largest zodiac constellation in the sky is Virgo. It was called so in honor of Demetra, the Ancient Greek goddess of agriculture and fertility, the daughter Rhea and Cronus who gave birth to the goddess Persefona subsequently. In Virgo constellation there is the brightest spectral double star of Speke that in translation from Latin means "ear".
Zodiac Virgo constellation is between constellations Vesov and Lev, also in this congestion of stars the point of an autumn equinox is located.

Legend of the constellation of Maidens
According to an Ancient Greek legend, god Zeus promised Aida, to the master of the underground kingdom, the daughter Persefona in the wife. When the girl grew up, Hades demanded from Zeus promised – however Zeus could not give Persefona to ominous god, and that kidnapped her, having locked in the underground kingdom. Persefona's mother, the goddess Demetra, fell into despair and so bitterly mourned the lost daughter that fertile terrestrial fields turned into burned fruitless deserts.
Despite entreaties of people, inconsolable mother could not stop a stream of the tears then gods began to be considered for the first time indifferent and cruel beings.
However Zeus noticed a grief of mortal and understood that they are threatened by starvation if Persefona is not got out of captivity Aida. By order of the Supreme god the tsar of the underground kingdom was forced to return the beautiful goddess, and Persefona was saved then she rose with the mother Demetra on Olympe. Further Zeus decided destiny of the daughter as follows: two thirds of year she had to live with mother on the Olympus or on Earth, and one third of year belonged to the husband Aida who could appropriate it for the earth for this term. Thus, people put a legend that the nature blossoms when Persefona comes to the earth, and dies away when she goes down to the kingdom Aida.
