More than a century ago Herbert Wells suggested that on Mars there is intelligent life. The science fiction writer even described in one of the novels as blood-thirsty Martians occupy Earth. Since then ideas of a possibility of life on the red planet changed. Some scientists express opinion that life there in principle cannot exist, not to mention its reasonable forms. To this question the disembarkation of people of Earth can put the end to Mars.
Whether there is life on Mars?
Hopes for what on Mars the life will be possible to find have under themselves the soil. This planet is considered the double of Cradle of Humankind. Mars moves on an orbit around the Sun right after Earth. Diameter of the red planet is almost twice less terrestrial, and it makes one revolution around the central star almost for few years. The day length on Mars is comparable about terrestrial. All these conditions, apparently, do Mars quite suitable for life.
Observing the surface of the planet, next to Earth, scientists paid attention to a number of details which speak well for existence of life there. For example, on Mars the change of seasons takes place.
Over the surface of the planet a small amount of water vapor was found out that it is very important for origin and development of life.
It is a lot of disputes among scientists and fans of astronomy caused so-called Martian canals. Optimists were sure that it is about the artificial constructions intended for leading of water from subpolar areas to other parts of the planet. If so, then on Mars there is intelligent life, considered many. Alas, later researches answered in the negative on this question.
Modern data on life on Mars
Only achievements of modern astronautics allowed to approach a solution of mysteries of Mars. Since 1962 several American and Soviet automatic stations were directed to the red planet with the research purposes. The equipment gave the chance to carry out pictures of the Martian surface. And still to obtain reliable data about whether there are on the planet signs of life, it was not possible. In November, 2011 the American Kyyuriositi research vehicle was directed to Mars. In the summer of the next year it safely reached the surface of the mysterious planet and began to transfer the most valuable data. The mars rover found the dried-up beds of the rivers on the planet. As it turned out, the Martian soil incorporates organic compounds, necessary for life, there are amino acids. But what people of Earth got used to call life was not found.
Scientists, having studied the obtained data, incline that once on Mars there could be life.
Does not upset scientists at all that modern Mars was lifeless. The fact that once here, perhaps, there was organic life can change radically ideas of origin of life in the Universe. Exist a hypothesis that it was brought to Earth from other worlds including from Mars. It is necessary to wait when flight of people of Earth to the red planet is made. On the ground it will be much simpler to researchers to understand a situation. The research of deep layers of the Martian soil will allow to restore a picture of the transformations which were taking place on the planet. Who knows whether it will manage to archeologists to come across not only traces of an ancient civilization, but also to meet the Martians who moved deep into planets after global disaster?
