On June 16, 2012 from the territory of the People's Republic of China the spaceship with the female astronaut, the first in the history of this country, started. Date of an event was chosen not just like that: this day in 1963 the first in the USSR departed to space and in the world the female astronaut Valentina Tereshkova.

1. People's Republic of China became the spacefaring nation in 1999. The first spacecraft launched from the territory of the People's Republic of China under the name "Shenchzhou-1" was in many respects copied from the Soviet Union ship. As well as four subsequent Chinese ships which were also carrying the name "Shenchzhou" (but with other numbers), it was pilotless.

2. The history of the piloted space flights in the People's Republic of China began start of the Shenchzhou-5 spacecraft in 2003. The man by the name of Yang Liwei was the only crew member of the ship (taykonavty). But already then it was promised that the near future space will be visited also by the Chinese woman. This initiative was immediately supported by the organization under the name "All-China Federation of Women".

3. In July, 2004 the management of the Air Force of the People's Republic of China selected 35 women for passing of preparation for space flight. It was planned to be finished by 2009. At the end of preparation it was declared that a further competition there will pass exactly a half of participants. Information on their biographies is rather poor, but it is known that all of them worked as pilots of jet fighters during this period.

4. Liu Yand who was born in the Provinces of Henan in October, 1978 became the first Chinese female astronaut. She started the flight career in 1997, having joined the ranks of the Air Force of the People's Republic of China. By the time of flight she managed to be entitled the major and to marry, but there are no children in her families yet.

5. Start of the Shenchzhou-9 spacecraft took place on June 16, 2012. Besides Liu Yang, was a part of its crew two male astronauts: Jing Haipeng and Liu Wang. Next day the ship was docked to the laboratory Tyangun-1 module. This first visit of this module by people: before only the test pilotless apparatus under the name "Shenchzhou-8" was docked to it in November, 2011. Undocking and return of crew of the Shenchzhou-9 ship to the earth it is planned for July 1, 2012.
