The touch screen as the device reacting to touches was brought into mass development in the USA. At first this new technology was used only in computer systems and graphic tablets in the eighties of the 20th century. The very first touch phone was constructed in the USA in 1993. It was IBM Simon.

1. The first touch IBM Simon was rather bulky on a design and a form represented a brick. History did not keep a name of the designer, it is known only that Simon was a child experimental, engineers of Mitsubishi Electric under the leadership of Frank Kanova who presented model to the world on pages of the popular edition USA Today took part in development. In phone elementary functions of the mobile phone like the calculator, hours and the telephone book were realized. Touch management was not initially provided in it for fingers, though was feasible, but for the majority of operations it was more convenient to use the stylus. The cost of Simon was about one thousand dollars that represented the considerable sum for those times. Despite all innovation of this invention, it did not become widespread, and soon and the company ceased to be engaged in mobile developments.
2. The following mentions of touch phones meet in Japan. In 1998 the Sharp company released the smartphone. The Alcatel One Touch COM model became one more attempt to apply a sensor system of management in mobile devices, say that its creation was on control of Etienne Fouquet who since 1990 headed technical departments and the most perspective directions of development. However these models did not receive due consideration and for some time was forgotten about touch phones.

Her idea consists in measurement of change of resistance between the screen and other surface in phone located under the screen. When pressing the distance between them decreases and resistance changes. This system has the shortcomings like distortion of the image and not compactness of a design. Besides resistive, apply also capacitive, induction, infrared and tensometric technologies to touch devices.
4. The legendary product from Apple – iPhone became new achievement in the empire of touch mobile phones. This product was presented to the world in 2007 and won improbable popularity. Besides the author's ideas of Steve Jobs and creative design decisions, the Apple team could introduce a set of functions and realize new technologies in new phone. The multi-touch system was the most revolutionary that implies simultaneous management of several fingers that was not provided in one smartphone earlier.
5. The companies with a world name are engaged in production of touch phones now, continuing to improve a design and functionality thanks to what smartphones surely took the leading positions among other mobile devices.
