Why nightingales sing

Why nightingales sing

The nightingale – a greyish small birdie looks unattractive, it is slightly more than sparrow. It is possible to meet him in countries of Eastern Europe, in the territory of Western Siberia. In places of a nesting ground of a bird appear with arrival of thaw, and begin to sing when on trees the first green leaflets appear.

Usually the first males fly. They lodge on the earth, in bush thickets. The nests twist is low, and sing, sitting on a branch. The nightingale trill can be heard at night or at dawn. A nightingale – the bird careful, is almost imperceptible in the afternoon, but during singing does not pay any attention to danger.

Keeping of nightingales in bondage is an ancient entertainment of the population living in regions of a mass nesting ground of these birds. Caught them only in the first week after an arrival and before nightingales break on couples. In bondage the bird sings too, but gradually her trill stops. Nightingales was not held all year – released by the end of summer.

The nightingale trill is the clicking and rolling sounds differing on intonation. Such triads are carried by males, drawing to themselves attention of a female, and they appear approximately in a week after their arrival. Nightingales are capable to imitate. In those areas where one good singer was brought, singing at other nightingales improves. Young individuals adopt experience at old males. Discordant birds are considered as good singers. Width of sounding of a nightingale song depends on a type of an individual which about 14 are known. Singing calms down when birds break on couples – it occurs somewhere to the middle of June. The female hatches eggs about two weeks. The male feeds her, brings food and to the hatched baby birds, during this period he has no time for singing. Kids leave nests early, having hardly learned to fly. From this point the nightingale family begins to wander, hiding from the slightest danger on thickets. The family group at the end of August when nightingales fly away on a wintering to tropical regions of East Africa breaks up.
