Conflict sociology

The conflicts (including, and interhuman) study different sciences and areas of knowledge. A difference in approaches to studying an estesvenn. Approach goes to psychology from the person, in sociology – from society. Both psychological, and sociological approaches and methods of a research are very important for studying the conflicts and management of them as the conflictology meanwhile still cannot be considered independent area of knowledge and furthermore – science in classical understanding.

Concept of the conflict in sociology

In understanding of sociology, the conflict is a possible form of relationship between certain subjects of social action. At the same time the motivation of subjects (that is, participants and parties of the conflict) can be caused by a contradiction of value orientations, interests and requirements, also ideas of admissible and possible ethical standards of tactical and strategic actions during the conflict.

The conflict sociology (as well as psychology or conflictology) understands the conflict as the normal phenomenon in life and development of society. As the conflict is at the same time and a way of resolution of conflicts, identification and resolution of conflicts in general it is useful as for small groups, and in general for society. Paying attention to resolution of conflicts, the individual, the group or society in general achieve more effective results, certainly, if conform to the certain rules directed to civilized regulation of the conflicts and management of their development.

Role conflict in sociology

The person, as we know, a being public, the main part of his social manifestations is implemented performed by certain social roles. Execution of any given roles (as experience) his behavior and outlook surely leave a mark on the person.

It is necessary to understand that social and role norms are not identical. The society and the state impose to the person a certain set of social roles. It is not always pleasant, and it is sometimes terrible. In course of execution of social roles there can be role tension that, in turn, can lead to the social and role conflicts.

The person will play at the same time not one social role, but a set. The modern sociology considers the role conflicts as tension caused by a contradiction of the role requirements imposed on the individual in different social roles.

Allocate two types of the role conflicts:

  • interrole (evolve from incompatibility of requirements at execution of different social roles by the same subject between social roles);
  • intra role (arise when contradictions contain in the most social role).
