The science psychology defines fears of the person as standard reaction to potential external threat. But such state is only considered norm until the person can cope with it. Otherwise the fear passes into a phobia which can develop even into a mental disorder over time.

Fears of the person in terms of psychology

There are fears real and far-fetched. In the first case they can even be considered as "useful" as they preserve the person against really existing danger. The second group is "harmful" fears which arise owing to fruitless reflections, heart-searching, under the influence of opinion of people around. They are followed by painful feeling of alarm, continuous internal "trembling" and deprive of the person of an opportunity to operate themselves and the emotions. Quite often the children's trauma, the violence endured in the deep past is the reason of unreasonable fears. Some phobias as scientists consider, can be caused even by genetics.

What human fears happen?

The psychology shares steady human fears, or phobias into several categories:

  1. Spatial. Here claustrophobia, or fear of limited space enter (elevators, small conspirational rooms, etc.); an agrophobia, or fear of open space (the person is afraid even to leave the house); fear of height;
  2. Social. Sociophobia, or fear of other people; fear of crowd; fear of public statements; fear of new acquaintances; fear to leave the loved one;
  3. Personal. Nozofobiya, or fear to get sick; the mizofobiya, or fear to be soiled, adjoin microbes; cardiophobia, or fear of cardiac arrest; kantserofobiya, or fear of oncological diseases; thanatophobia, or fear of death; sexual fears, fear to do much harm to close people, etc.
