Society Hits: 256

In our society the heterosexual orientation when the emotional and sexual inclination of the person is directed to persons of an opposite sex is considered normal. Therefore the person with nonconventional orientation faces misunderstanding and condemnation of society and close people. Whether it is possible to change nonconventional orientation to heterosexual?

Instruction

1. The question of whether it is possible to change in general sexual orientation, very much and is very ambiguous. It is impossible to claim that the person cannot change sexual orientation, but also it is incorrect to think that it can do to any. An opportunity or impossibility to change orientation depends on many factors: the causes of orientation, a type of nonconventional orientation (bi- or homosexuality), desire or unwillingness of the person to change the orientation. And here it is necessary to notice that one desire of the person for change of the orientation is far not enough. For example, irritates many women that their husbands look not only at them, but also at other women. And if the wife reproaches with it the husband, he will answer: ""I here at anything, am the men's nature, and I cannot do anything with it"". Or he can pretend at it that he does not look at other women - but no more than that. And so, it also is that ""nature"", or inclination is called.

2. Speaking about sexual and emotional inclination, usually it is divided into natural and unnatural. Also orientation can be divided into traditional (""normal"") and nonconventional. However not everything is as simple as it seems at first sight. For example, to what orientation it is possible to refer bisexuality: to traditional or nonconventional? So, the founder of psychoanalysis Siegmund Freud claimed that all people are born with congenital bisexuality. And only in development of people becomes monosexual. It is possible to tell that the person with bisexual orientation ""was lucky"" more, than from homosexual. He has an opportunity to enter the relations with the partner of an opposite sex, and at the same time not to go against the nature. Though it will not mean that bisexual orientation will change on heterosexual. It will mean to give preference to the relations with the partner of an opposite sex.

3. Before trying to change homosexual orientation, it is necessary to understand the reasons of its emergence: genetic predisposition, education, psychological trauma, or even all combined. In case of the acquired homosexuality the nonconventional orientation can be an education consequence as child of an opposite sex, long finding of the child in an environment of people of an opposite sex, various psychological injuries and other factors. In case of congenital homosexuality the child can feel as the person of other floor, and by results of some researches, often blood at such children contains the increased content of hormones of an opposite sex. By the way, the science cannot offer an exact explanation of the cause of congenital homosexuality yet. And most of psychotherapists and sexologists claims that it is impossible to cure congenital homosexuality. If, of course, to consider nonconventional sexuality a disease, but not specific feature of the person.

4. Really, there are cases of change of sexual orientation with psychotherapy. However, concerning change of orientation with psychotherapy there is no unambiguous opinion yet. In any case, opponents of conversion (reparative) therapy consider it very doubtful and even dangerous to mentality. In fact, it is methods of reprogramming of a brain of the person and as far as it is ethic - a question very disputable. Considering that in the past in techniques of reparative therapy such methods as electroconvulsive therapy (electroshock) and the aversivny therapy using calling of nausea and vomiting by means of medicines at demonstration to the patient of gomoerotichesky materials were used.

5. In general, opinions on change of sexual orientation depend generally on the attitude towards her. Some time ago nonconventional orientation was considered as a disease which psychiatrists have to treat. Presently the nonconventional sexuality is not considered a mental disorder any more. Supporters of conversion psychotherapy consider it psychological frustration which (besides) needs to be corrected and many religious people - a sin against which it is necessary to fight. Not to mention homophobes in whom tells fear of otherness. At the same time many psychotherapists, sexologists and scientists consider homosexuality no more than one of orientations of sexuality. Therefore the increasing support is got by the gay and affirmative approach directed to adoption of the sexuality, finding of internal balance and harmony. ""You Remember: no matter, what sexual orientation at you, the main thing that it suits you"" (Louise Hay).
