1. Try to influence emotions of the spouse. Most of women are rather impressionable and susceptible therefore you should select constantly for her the unpleasant and shocking information connected with smoking. For example, show photos of lungs, cancer-stricken, you provide statistics of death from smoking.
2. Periodically you lead discussions with the wife. You should not swear and put ultimatums: a talk has to take place in quiet tone. Systematically you give it arguments in favor of refusal of smoking. Show care of her health.
3. Wound self-esteem of the spouse. For example, casually mention that her non-smoking girlfriend looks younger. Or note whiteness of teeth in children's photos of the wife from whom there is no trace left also now. Perhaps, similar things will be very offensive for the woman. However they can become a sufficient push for its refusal of smoking.
4. If you already have children, focus attention to their health. Provide data on that how many hazardous substances are absorbed by passive smokers. If you only plan to bring the child, the task becomes simpler. Whether harm of nicotine for a fruit harm can be exaggerated. Pregnancy and the subsequent feeding by a breast have to become the main argument for refusal of cigarettes.
5. Offer the spouse a worthy gift if she leaves off smoking and will hold on during a certain (long) term. It can be expensive decoration, a series of exclusive saloon procedures or an exotic tour. Similar "prize" will surely add to your wife will powers.
6. If you have no sufficient authority on the wife's eyes, try to influence her through other people. For example, talk to her attending physician or the cosmetologist. Such "conspiracy" does not contradict ethics at all: any expert with medical education has to support the similar initiative.
