The person the believer, and the atheist can be the agnostic both. Such person does not aspire in all possible and impossible ways to learn the truth. For him the argument that the mankind cannot neither prove is more powerful, nor disprove existence of the highest force over us. Besides, he will abstain from judgments of the majority to what camp they would not belong. The agnostic just has no sufficient bases to believe or approve the return.
Quite often the agnostic refuses in general any philosophical reasonings owing to the fact that the phenomenon cannot be described or proved by definition. But it does not mean what such person touches nothing at all, interests and does not concern besides everyday questions.
There is a set of jokes in this respect. To understand who such agnostic, it is possible from an example when the asked question who is guilty also what to do - he answers I do not know and will not suffer, permission of eternal problems. Agnostics will go about the own business until they do not face any problem directly.
Agnosticism essence
So peculiar outlook and word meaning agnostic is popularized in one of the philosophical directions – in agnosticism. Agnostics do not consider that the mankind learns the world objectively. At the same time, they impose on nobody the opinion and the understanding of this life. They even believe in what the truth at everyone the, so why to break a spear. The absolute truth is all the same not allowed to learn. But it in the theory. In practice quite often people, adhering to the agnostic principles, very brightly express the thoughts and emotions. Therefore an assessment of their judgments is given by surrounding people.
What means – the agnostic?
Agnostics believe in scientific knowledge. But the solution of such questions as search of life on other planets, the proof of existence of God and immortal soul seems to them difficult and impossible, and, above all, senseless. Agnostics are more inclined to trust results of scientific and social experiments, than experimental exercises and theories. They do not make serious attempts neither to prove something, nor to disprove something. And they very much do not love when the conflicting parties try to draw them to the camp.
Though say that in a dispute the truth is born, the agnostic would doubt this statement. And the simplified possible answers I trust / I do not trust it too do not arrange. From outside can seem that the agnosticism as the philosophical direction in outlook strongly slows down progress – to achieve nothing times, is not necessary. But the key part of the problem is much deeper. Agnostics can be respected for the fact that they are not subject to others influence, do not recognize the imposed authorities. But at the same time, knowing who such agnostic in religion, it is hardly possible to judge the person in the standard religious understanding. As such person just rejects any opinion imposed on him, including religious. And, as we know, in religions the community of judgments is appreciated. Well it or is bad, it is possible to judge in a specific case.
Agnostic perception of the world
In the history names of such famous agnostics as Emmanuil Kant, Darwin, Einstein remained. They were unshakable in own judgments. Also there are examples when because of agnostic beliefs known or not really the person did not want to penetrate into a key part of the problem when he about it was asked. The conflicts, the spoiled relations of colleagues though just agnostics in every way try to avoid it in the life could become result. They appreciate personal comfort and inviolability of judgments more.
Ordinary people consider that agnostic means the person who likes to draw the independent conclusions which sometimes are contrary to the standard judgments. But here a lot of things are solved by circumstances – whether it be at work, in family, in public organizations. Agnostics have no ready (sample) answers to rhetorical questions. The person with so independent (though sometimes contradictory) views will not be able to come to a certain conclusion just for the reason that a number of the objective reasons, lack of resources for comprehension of the truth, the insufficient potential of knowledge, lack of motivation, etc. prevents to draw this conclusion to it.
