McLaren will join professional cycling

McLaren will apply the know-how from Formula 1 in professional cycling – on Wednesday the company announced the agreement concerning cooperation with the UCI World Tour Bahrain Merida team.

 McLaren Applied Technologies (MAT) will become the 50 percent partner of team, and will try to help it to take the top places of protocols in all cycle races.

Before MAT cooperated with the Specialized company which specializes in production of bicycles and also helped team of Great Britain during the Olympic Games of 2012 in London. However in the case with Bahrain Merida the partnership will become much longer, and in cooperation use the considerable part of knowledge gained by McLaren in F1.

John Allert, the head of marketing of McLaren, told: "Races, technologies and productivities of the person is the basis of everything that we do in McLaren. The cycling is in what we took part in the past and already some time considered the possibility of new cooperation.

It quite naturally corresponds to our skills and ambitions - it is ideal partnership with the Bahrain Merida team that has the correct vision and approach to the future.

In the nearest future we will constantly work as we know that the world of professional cycling is the house for the best athletes and competitive teams from the world of sport".

The sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa who is the owner bakhreynsko ї teams, added: "Our partnership with McLaren is what gives me big national pride and admiration of the future of cycling of Bahrain. We want to be the best in the world and the example for others – how to compete in this the most difficult of elite sports.

Partnership with McLaren will provide us invaluable experience how to receive the best result from cars and athletes, and will help us to accelerate promotion of our command to top of professional cycling".

Announcements of McLaren appeared only in several hours after Team Sky, the most successful World Tour team of the last years, said that 2019 will become the last year of her performances.
