Some people very much are skeptical about this sport. However, there are historic facts which force to look at test of dogs absolutely on the other hand. It happened in 1925 on Alaska in the city of Nome. By that moment Nome was the biggest settlement of Alaska. But it was comprehended by misfortune. Epidemic of diphtheria claimed the lives of many children. In the crowded hospitals, medicine — antitoxins urgently was required. Serum was the only place where there was the city of Anchorage. However, the location of this city lay for thousands of miles from Nome.
The task was complicated by the storm therefore by plane it was impossible to send medicine. It was decided to send medicine by train to Nenana. But also here not everything appeared smoothly. Not Nana is for 1000 kilometers from Nome, and further railway tracks didn't pass. Medicine was delivered to Nome by 20 dogsleds which followed on relay.
