PSF is one from the biggest cities to the Uzhhorod district of the Transcarpathian region. Today it is one of the main transport hubs on border with Hungary and Slovakia. The city covers the territory at 6:12 of square kilometers with the population of 8.9 thousand people. Most of locals - Hungarians.
The first mentions of the city are dated 1281, development of PSF begins already since then. The name of this settlement was given by settlements of magnates of Chopi. For all the time of existence the city had more than 142 owners. In 1427 in this territory the accommodation of 27 serf families was recorded.
1872 when in this area the first railway line to Mukachevo which passed through the PSF territory was built was an important event in development of the city. At the beginning of the 20th century the population of the city increases several times. In 1938 the PSF gets under the power of Hungary, but in 1944 the Soviet troops entered the city. Finally the settlement was freed by this on November 23, 1944.
It would be desirable to designate that in 1944 the PSF was a part of the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. And today it keeps the status of the important railway junction. Now the PSF represents itself one of the main foreign transport ways by means of which railway, river, road networks connect. Today here the main customs posts of Europe concentrated, including Yew.

The PSF is very multinational city where Ukrainians, Russians, Roma, Slovaks live. Most of them left the elements, attributes of culture which can be seen in souvenir shops and local shops. Languages - Ukrainian and Hungarian prevail two. Them practically all population owns.
It would be desirable to note that the PSF is not only the important transport hub, but also the comfortable vacation spot. First of all it is chosen by those who are interested in historical monuments and various architecture, including a gothic style, baroque and Romance style. Also tourists are attracted by the various population which displays the customs, traditions prevailing in the general atmosphere of the city. It is necessary to tell that the PSF is a peculiar international heart, having passed on the street, it is possible to see the Russian buildings, the Ukrainian clothes, to hear the Hungarian songs. The downtown where it is possible to see the unique sculptural composition representing the dead in world wars is considered especially saturated.
