Recently Japanese cuisine enjoys special popularity in Russia. Various sushi and rolls have unusual and refined taste, but whether they are useful to our organism?

The main ingredients on which the Japanese dishes are under construction are rice and fish. The main distinctive feature of sushi is that the fish used in their preparation shouldn't be exposed to heat treatment that it kept the initial taste. The used products have to be fresh as not only the success of a dish, but also its usefulness for health depends on it.

Correctly cooked and fresh sushi have beneficial influence on some functions of an organism. Consumption of this product positively affects work of heart, helps to struggle with a depression and promotes weight loss.

Rice is an irreplaceable source of the high-quality cellulose contributing to normalization of work of intestines. Seaweed to a hole are storage of various minerals and vitamins. Only 30 g of this product completely satisfy the daily need of an organism for iodine. The saltwater fish, being an integral part of the Japanese dishes, is rich with fatty acids an omega-3 and high-quality protein which is acquired by an organism for 95%. As fish isn't exposed to heat treatment, all useful substances which are contained in it remain invariable.

However, there are also some "reefs" which can nullify all useful properties of sushi. First, the wet fish often becomes a source of infection with parasites, and such cases meet not so seldom. To avoid emergence of similar troubles, it is better to buy sushi and rolls only in the checked places. If you train them independently, then fish should be taken in the fridge within 12 hours at a temperature not below 4 °C (it will allow to kill all possible parasites). Besides, the Japanese dishes are most often served with wasabi and marinated ginger which are known for the antiseptic and healing properties.

Secondly, some types of a saltwater fish may contain mercury which is very hazardous to health.

Thirdly, some scientists believe that the excessive use of a wet fish can lead to such serious disease as liver cancer.

Of course, all listed "problems" don't mean at all that you should refuse consumption of rolls and sushi forever. Simple observance of rules of precaution will allow you to enjoy unique and refined taste of these exotic dishes without any negative consequences for health.
