There are several ways of determination of the linear sizes of objects, and for every way the measuring tool is provided. The micrometer of which action movement of couple "screw nut" is the cornerstone is applied to measurement of parameters of details with high precision. Instruction
1. Get acquainted with a micrometer design. Standard (so-called smooth) the micrometer consists of the basis (bracket) and the reformative device including screw couple (nut and the screw). In a bracket the stalk and a heel are built in. The drum with a graggers joins the screw by means of a cap. Upon termination of measurement the screw is fixed by a stopper.
2. Prepare a micrometer for measurement. Pick up the device and part with rotation of the drum in the parties the contact surfaces located in a bracket. Establish a gap between working surfaces slightly more, than the sizes of the measured object.
3. To bring closer the screw to a heel, rotate a drum clockwise, and for the return movement rotate it on yourself, that is counterclockwise.
4. Make sure that a working part of a micrometer has no foreign inclusions or pollution. If necessary accurately clean the device, without making considerable efforts.
5. Take a detail which linear sizes you need to measure in the left hand. You can also put an object on a plain surface or fix in the clutch (vice) that the subject could not move spontaneously.
6. For measurement of thickness of a subject clamp it between contact measuring surfaces of a micrometer, rotating a drum in the necessary direction. At the same time the screw evenly moves along an axis, and the size of change of provision of contact surfaces is proportional to a screw angle of rotation.
7. As soon as the graggers of a drum begins to be turned with an easy crash, stop rotation. On a scale of a stalk of a micrometer and a scale of a drum you will see the number of the counting corresponding to the linear sizes of the measured detail. As a rule, the step of the screw is equal to 0.5 or 1 mm, but there are micrometers and with other characteristics of counting.
8. For measurement of objects which sizes exceed the greatest possible distance between contact surfaces use replaceable heels.
