English is traditionally carried to group of the West German languages. It was created from several dialects which made the Old English language brought to the British Isles by Anglo-Saxons in the 5th century. As a result of cultural and political impact of Great Britain the English actually turned into means of interethnic communication.
Language of the international communication
By estimates of experts, on English language more than 400 million people in different countries of the world speak. It is used in Great Britain, Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, India and many other countries which were influenced the British culture. It is one of those languages which are official in the United Nations.
English, close to modern, was formed approximately in the 13th century, having allocated from mix of the French and Anglo-Saxon languages. A bit later it took literary shape and began to differ in special richness of vocabulary and an originality of grammatical forms. As English was formed
History of English is divided into three periods: Old English, Middle English and new English. The history of formation of language begins with tribes of saxophones, angl and yut which moved to Britain approximately in the middle of the 5th century. At that time language was close to Frisian and nizhnenemetsky, however subsequently strongly departed from the German languages. During the Old English period the language of Anglo-Saxons changed a little, changes concerned generally expansion of dictionary structure. As a part of English some words of the indigenous Celtic people of Britain were fixed. Also influence of the Roman culture which extended on the British Isles during dominion of Rome proceeding about four hundred years affected structure of language. During this time the set of new words and the borrowed language designs was fixed in language.
Many words of Latin origin took roots in language and remained still.
From XI to the 15th century the formation of English was under the influence of the Normans who intruded in Britain. So in Old English language there was one of adverbs of Old French language which was brought with themselves by conquerors. This language became property of the top classes and churches. However small number of conquerors could not lead to significant changes in language, the indigenous people of the country belonged to Anglo-Saxons. The compromise option was as a result formed and that language which is called English today was created. The new period in development of language began with the 16th century and proceeds so far.
