As poles of magnets interact

As poles of magnets interact

Knowledge Base Hits: 74

The magnetized body is not uniform, on it it is always possible to excrete two sites called poles. Interaction of two magnets depends on how their poles are turned to each other.

Instruction

1. The first situation is observed if two magnets are turned to each other by heteronymic poles. In this case between them the attraction force depending on magnetization of each of them and also distance between them will work. If this force exceeds friction force, one or both magnets will start moving therefore the distance between them will begin to decrease, and force, in turn, as avalanche to accrue. They will connect.

2. The second case - when magnets are turned to each other by the poles of the same name. Then between them pushing away force will work. Ideally, when axes of magnets are parallel each other, any attempt to bring closer one of magnets will lead to moving away of the second as soon as force of pushing away exceeds friction force. In practice the ideal parallelism of axes of magnets is impossible, and that from them which is not fixed, will begin to turn. Gradually it will turn in such a way that opposite poles of magnets will be to each other turned, and there will be an attraction.

3. It is possible to avoid it, having limited one way or another movement of a mobile magnet. It is possible to apply a tube from non-magnetic material, or to make this magnet ring and to put on a non-magnetic core. If a tube or a core to arrange vertically, and then to turn magnets the poles of the same name to each other, the mobile magnet will be suspended over motionless. But it is impossible to call it a magnetic levitation as it leans on a tube or a core. For a magnetic levitation use other principles.

4. The third situation arises in interaction of any pole of a magnet with a body of magnetosoft material which is not magnetized. At influence of magnetic field such body itself turns into a magnet which poles are located in such a way that it is attracted. If to move a magnet, the magnetosoft body will immediately be remagnetized in a new way, and this condition will continue to be met and if to remove a magnet, the body will almost degauss. Thus, in interaction of a magnet with a body of magnetosoft material the last is always attracted regardless of which a pole to it will turn a magnet.
