The outstanding Russian geographer — the climatologist Alexander Voyeykov called the rivers climate products. The multiwater content of the rivers, their mode, a zamerzayemost, density of network of the rivers, type of food depend on climatic features of the area on which they proceed and it is a lot of other characteristics.

1. In the hilly terrain of the river are filled with water mainly due to thawing of ices, the mode of such rivers will depend directly on climate and weather. In the spring when thawing snow they usually deep, flood banks, spread, and during the cold period freeze. The flat river usually has the small number of inflows and the climate has less impact as it can be filled with underground springs on its mode.
2. Each type of climate differs in quantity of an atmospheric precipitation. The rivers flowing in regions of a humid climate - are deep, the rivers of droughty sites — are shallow, and sometimes can dry up completely. The climate influences a possibility of navigation - the main large rivers of our country freeze during a winter season therefore navigation is possible only in warm months.
3. The type of food of the rivers is also defined by climate. Volga, Yenisei, Ob and Lena eat mostly spring melt water and summer rains. Waters of summer monsoonal rains fill the rivers of the basin of the Pacific Ocean. In Altai the rivers have snow and glacial food. In the territory of nizkogoriya of the Caucasus where even precipitation in the form of rains drops out in the winter, there are rivers mainly with rain food. Such rivers can have unpredictable sharp short-term rises caused by intensive rains - floods. Floods quite often are followed by floods. The severest floods are noted also in the south of the Far East.
