The contactor is called the powerful relay which is usually used for switching of three-phase electric motors. Some of such relays, besides three power contact couples, have the auxiliary, intended for remote control states and automatic interlocks.

Instruction

1. Use the contactor's terminals located near a bottom for accession of conductors to a winding. Previously make sure that the winding is calculated on that tension and that sort of current (constant or variable) at which it will be operated. Do not mix these characteristics with parameters of a chain which the contactor should switch - they to each other have no relation. Consider that on the device the parameters of the coil can be and are not designated, it is a replaceable element. If necessary sort the contactor, read winding parameters, then collect upside-down. If the coil does not approach, it can be replaced with another, having other characteristics, but the same dimensions. The wrong choice of a sort of current is dangerous to the coil almost in the same degree, as the wrong choice of tension.

2. Make sure that the contactor is efficient - give tension on the coil, and the core will be involved. Take an ohmmeter and check whether everything contact groups became isolated. Also check whether there was a short circuit or disconnection (depending on device type) low-power control contact groups. At power off of the coil be careful even if it is powered low voltage - the splash in a self-induction is possible.

3. At installation of the contactor in the scheme connect the coil to the control circuit, then on three entrance terminals give tension from the introduction automatic machine, and by three weekend located from the opposite side, connect the electric motor. The way of connection of its windings (star or a triangle) has to depend on supply voltage. Track that contact couples are located so that at retraction of the core each of phases will be connected to the corresponding contact of the engine. Connect low-current contact couples to control chains. If the automatic interlock, that from normally opened couples which is not involved in control chains is necessary, connect parallel to the inclusion button, and turn on the shutdown button with normally closed contacts in a rupture of the control circuit.

4. Give tension on the scheme. Include the contactor's winding, and the engine will begin to rotate. Then disconnect it, and its speed will fall. Soon it will fall so that it will be possible to notice where it rotated. If it turns out that the direction is chosen incorrectly, at a deenergized chain and completely stopped engine trade places any two phases then repeat check of the direction of rotation.
