If to lay aside programming, then the problem of calculation of lines most often arises during the work with texts and tables. The software most widespread for today for work with documents of this sort - the Word word-processor and the tabular editor of Excel from structure of a package of office applications of Microsoft Office. Ways of calculation of quantity of lines with use of these two applications are given below.
Instruction
1. Start Microsoft Word and load into it the text document which lines should be counted. Dialogue of opening of the file here, as well as in the majority of programs, it is possible to cause a combination of "hot keys" Ctrl + O or through the application menu, the window opened by click on the big round button in the left top corner.
2. Go to the Reviewing tab of the menu of the word-processor and click on the pictogram on which letters of ABC are represented and figure 123 - this button opens a small window with the detailed statistics relating to the loaded text. Information on quantity of lines also is placed in the lower line of this window. There is easier way to open on the screen statistics window - enough to left-click the inscription "Number of Words" in the left lower part of a window (in a status bar).
3. Pay attention to that fact that this parameter depends on that for how many signs it is possible to find room into every line. It means that changing the font size or size of spaces from edges of the page in the course of preparation of the text for printing, you will change also quantity of lines. If it is important to you to control number of lines in the printed document, then do not forget to check it just before sending the document for the printer or before preservation in the file.
4. Start the tabular Microsoft Excel processor and load into it the table which lines are required to be counted. Except own Excel formats, tables can be loaded also from csv-files, and it is possible to transfer them from other documents through a clipboard.
5. If just it is required to learn quantity of lines in the table, then it is enough to install the input cursor in its last line and to look at number in heading of a line to the left of the table. For fast transition to the last line it is possible to use a combination of the keys Ctrl + End.
6. If it is necessary to count the lines meeting any conditions, then use the SCHYOT, SCHYOTZ, SCHYOTESLI, SCHYOTESLIMN built-in functions. For example, let it is required to define quantity of lines at which the first cell contains any not empty value. In this case pass into a free cell in which you want to see result of calculation, enter = SChYoTZ (A: A) also press Enter.
