The analysis of the work – process synthetic. In it it is necessary to record the feelings and at the same time to subordinate their statement to strict logic. Besides, you need to spread out the poem or the story to components, without ceasing to perceive it as a unit. The plan of the analysis of the work will help to cope with these tasks.

Instruction

1. Starting the analysis of any work of art, collect information on time and conditions of its creation. It concerns public and political events of that time and also a stage of development of literature in general. Mention how the book was met by readers and critics of that era.

2. Regardless of type of the work it is necessary to define its subject. It is the subject of the narration. Also formulate the main problem which is considered by the author – a question or a situation which has no unambiguous decision. In the context of one subject in the work several problems can be considered.

3. Mark out the idea expressed by the author. It consists in the offered way of a solution. If that at this stage cannot be, the writer will indicate the need and the sphere of his search.

4. Write what you saw the author's relation to a subject and a problem of the work. Explain how you came to such conclusion. It is possible to see the author's point of view both in direct estimates and remarks, and in implication.

5. Analyze contents and a form of the book. If before you the poetic work, stop on an image of the lyrical hero. Tell how it is created and described what thoughts and feelings expresses. Assume, this image is how far from the real, biographic author. Pay attention to a work form. Define by what size it is written what rhyme and a rhythm are used by the author, for what purpose. Characterize the tracks and stylistic figures which are found in the text and give examples for each of names.

6. If you analyze the epic work, after determination of subject and a perspective call all story lines which are in the book. Then for each of them paint the subject scheme (exposition, a tie, action development, the culmination, an outcome).

7. Speaking about composition, pay attention to how all parts of the work are grouped whether they are followed by the author's reasonings (lyrical digressions), additional images and pictures, inserts of additional plots ("the story in the story").

8. Describe images of the main characters of the work, look how they interact as the conflicts develop.

9. After the main part of the analysis and lyrics, and the epos characterize author's style, i.e. the features of the choice of a subject, creation of a plot, language receptions characteristic of his works.

10. Further define the literary direction to which the book, and a work genre belongs. Call signs which indicate it. If the author broke "canons" a little, tell as well as for what he made it.

11. In the conclusion share the own emotions and associations caused by the book. Estimate, the work and as it is perceived in a modern context is how relevant.
