The question of how to melt lead, arises at many, as beginning, and worldly-wise fishers. The need for melting of lead for house conditions follows, as a rule, from desire to make sinkers, spinners and jigs according to the unique sketch. It is necessary to tell that this process is rather simple and does not present special difficulties. Temperature of melting of lead is equal to 327.4 degrees Celsius. It allows to melt it in ceramic, steel and even aluminum tanks directly on the gas burner of a household plate.

Instruction

1. Prepare capacity for melting. Make sure that it rather clean and does not contain organic pollution. Check reliability of fastening of a handle if that is available.

2. Prepare lead. If there is rather big piece of metal, divide it into small fragments. If lead is physically connected to a large amount of alien substances (as in old accumulators), whenever possible remove them.

3. Warm up the capacity in which melting will be made. Reliably establish capacity over the gas burner. Light fire. Adjust gas supply so that the flame was small. Wait until capacity gets warm. Warming up is necessary for evaporation of moisture from a surface of capacity, burning out of organic matter and prevention of destruction of ceramic ware because of fast uneven thermal expansion.

4. Melt lead. Place several pieces of lead in capacity. To avoid a burn, do it by nippers or a shovel. Wait for their full fusion. Add to fusion of a portion of lead before obtaining necessary amount of liquid metal. Gradual addition of lead in fusion accelerates melting process, as firm fragments contact to liquid fraction that increases contact area and improves a heat transfer.
