The fraction in mathematical sciences represents number which consists of only or several parts of unit which, in turn, are called shares. The quantity of shares into which unit was divided represents a fraction denominator; the quantity of the taken shares represents fraction numerator.

Instruction

1. To multiply fraction and natural number, increase numerator multiplied by you split up for this number, and leave a denominator of fraction without changes. Numerator of fraction is called the dividend, or that its part which is over horizontal or a virgule which means a division sign at record of fraction. A denominator of fraction is called the divider, or that its part which is under horizontal or a virgule.

2. To multiply the mixed fraction and natural number, increase the whole part of this fraction and also its numerator, on this number, and a denominator of the multiplied fraction leave invariable. The fraction is mixed if it is written down in the form of a proper fraction and an integer, and at the same time it is understood as the sum of fraction and an integer.

3. To increase one fraction by another, at first increase numerator of the first fraction by numerator of the second fraction, then increase a denominator of the first fraction by a denominator of the second fraction. Write down the first found work as numerator of the fraction representing required result of the work, and write down the second found work as a denominator of the same fraction.

4. To make multiplication of the mixed fractions, write down each mixed fraction in the form of an improper fraction, and then apply the rule of multiplication of fractions. That fraction in which the numerator on the module is less than a denominator on the module is proper. If the fraction does not fit this definition, then it is wrong. To pass from the mixed fraction to wrong, increase the whole part of this fraction by a denominator, and then add numerator to the turned-out work. Write down the final sum as numerator of the received improper fraction, and leave a denominator invariable.

5. To make division of one fraction into another, increase the first fraction by fraction, the return the second. For receiving the return fraction trade places numerator and a denominator.
