From where expression went
The phrase "trumpet of Jericho" came from the Old Testament. In the book by Jesus Navin, in the 6th head, it is told about how on the way from the Egyptian captivity to the Promised Land the Jews approached well strengthened city of Jericho. To continue a way, the city needed to be taken, but its inhabitants took cover behind the high and unapproachable walls. Six days the siege lasted. For the seventh day the Jewish priests began to bypass the city, sounding the trumpets. At the appointed moment they were supported by loud shouts by other Israelis. Also the miracle came true: fortifications failed from the concussion caused by blares.
Not without the God's help or under laws of physics this focus was done, but since then expression "trumpets of Jericho" is used as characteristic of unusually loud, deafening voice. "A pipe voice" – say still.

As showed the carried-out excavation of cultural layers of the 13th century BC on the place of the ancient city, Jericho was really enclosed with high double walls. It is more than that, the conducted researches by means of the radioactive analysis and other modern advanced methods confirmed that city walls of Jericho fell almost in one stage. Excavation also did not find traces of dwelling of people in layers of 11-12 centuries BC that again corresponds to a biblical scene. In the book by Jesus Navin it is said that after capture of the city and universal destruction of all his citizens, Iyekhoshua bin Nong (Jesus Navin) said over ruins a damnation to anything who will wish to restore the rebellious city. Throughout many centuries it lay in ruins.
