1. In the simplest case make observation of the electric power counter for some time. Divide the electric power in kilowatt-hours into the observation time taken in hours. It will also be the power which is required to the object connected to the counter.
2. To determine optimum power capacities, perform measurements and calculations for the following items. By means of counters of the electric power define the maximum load for consumers of power supply system. It is for this purpose expedient to construct the schedule of energy consumption during the periods of peak loading.
3. Calculate power losses in communicative networks for the same period of time. For this purpose it is possible to compare readings of meter which is directly on an object and counters of the generators giving current on an object. It is also possible to calculate this power, having divided tension square in network into resistance of the bringing communications.
4. Find the losses caused by electricity consumption by power stations for own needs. For this purpose from the power given by generators take away the power consumed by the station. Calculate the minimum power consumption as the sum of the capacities received in the first three points.
5. As changes in loading change the frequency of alternating current, find a frequency reserve of power for this purpose to the work of the minimum power consumption increased by 0.01 add the work of a root square of the same power on number 1.26. For carrying out the current repair work calculate a power reserve which averages 8% of the minimum power consumption.
6. Calculate the emergency reserve making 9% of the minimum power. For determination of power capacities which need to be given on an object for its normal work put the values which turned out when calculating in the last four points.
