"Inch" in the Dutch language means a thumb. In Russia as length unit of measure it was entered in the eighteenth century by Peter I and equaled the one tenth part of foot. After transition to the metric system the inch is not used any more therefore there is a need of its recalculation in centimeters.
Instruction
1. You divide the number of the English inches into coefficient 2.54 for recalculation them in centimeters. If it is rather difficult to make it in mind, then it is possible to use, for example, the standard calculator of the Windows operating system. That to open it, open the OS main menu - click the Start-up button or press the WIN key. The Calculator point is placed in the Subsection "Standard" of the section "All Programs" - pass there and click this point a mouse. It is possible to open the calculator and by means of standard dialogue of start of programs - select the Execute item in the main menu (or press WIN combination + R), make the calc team and click the OK button (or press the Enter key).
2. Include the mode of converting of units in the calculator - click in its menu the section "Look" and choose the line "Translation of Sizes". Its interface will change, there will be three drop-down lists of units of measure and the Translate button placed in the additional panel at the left.
3. Open the list under the inscription "Category" and choose in it the line "Length". Contents of other two drop-down lists at the same time will be replaced. In the Initial Size list choose "inch". In the Final Size list establish centimeter value.
4. Click the entry field over buttons of the calculator and press the size known to you in inches. Then press the Translate button and the calculator will convert the specified value into centimeters.
5. There are also alternative options. One of them - to use online converters of sizes. Such services it is possible to find a huge number in any search engine. However, if this system - Google, then it is possible to look for nothing - rather correctly to formulate inquiry and search engine itself will transfer for you inches to centimeters. For example, if it is necessary to transfer 12 inches to centimeters, gain "12 inches in cm". The result will appear at once, even without pressing of the button of search.
