Fans of exotic living creatures can try to support the Spanish triton at home. This quite unpretentious species of amphibians perfectly lives in averages in size aquariums with water of room temperature. The Spanish triton peacefully adjoins to active gregarious small fishes and small Crustacea.
The Spanish triton, triton thorny, a triton ridge are different names of one animal. The first name comes from the field of natural accommodation of this species of a triton – Spain. Also it meets in the territory of Portugal and in Morocco. Two other names appeared thanks to the sharp hillocks on sides of a triton appearing at the moment of danger. They serve him as protection against attack of predators.
The adult Spanish triton in the nature reaches the sizes to 30 cm, together with a tail. In bondage usually he does not grow up more than 20 cm. And females are larger than males both in length, and width. Distinctions of floors are limited only to the body sizes. Coloring of the Spanish triton grayish-brown with gray spots. Tritons of brown and gray-green shades meet.
Arrangement of an aquarium
The Spanish triton can be supported in aquariums and aquaterrariums. This animal – a cool amphibian therefore conditions for it have to be corresponding.
For one copy of the Spanish triton aquariums, of 30-40 l, are suitable for couple – 50 l. On a bottom soil from smooth stones of the average size that the triton could not swallow them accidentally keeps within. The triton loves shelters therefore the aquarium is densely planted with living and artificial plants, is decorated with snags, clay or coconut peshcherka. The aquarium has to be supplied with the filter, aeration, and lighting is required only to plants. The Spanish triton is unpretentious therefore he maintains the temperature range of water from 15 to 27 wasps. But for it temperature – 20 wasps is considered optimum. Therefore water cooling with bottles with ice or fans sometimes is required. For a triton it is better to establish the so-called "island of sushi" in an aquarium. For this purpose to a wall of an aquarium the snag wound by a moss fastens. Its upper edge has to reach hardly a water surface that the triton could clamber on a snag and put out the head from water. At the same time, existence of a cover of an aquarium because tritons are inclined to run is obligatory.
Food of the Spanish triton
Adult tritons are fed in 2-3 days, young growth – daily. The feature of feeding of tritons is that during a meal it is necessary to offer food to them until they do not refuse to eat, that is "to a dump". The Spanish tritons eat earthworms, flies, a crank in any kind, small pieces of fresh meat (chicken, beef). In order to avoid water pollution, food needs to be served on one piece by means of tweezers.
Features of tritons
Tritons have the unique gift of regeneration. If at them in the course of the fight or attack bite off an extremity, then on this place new grows after a while. For amphibians skin plays a major role in breath, through it tritons absorb the oxygen dissolved in water. Therefore tritons often fade. The skin is torn on the head, and the triton fast gets out from it. Then old skin is eaten at once. For the amicable neighbourhood the triton is not suitable large fishes from whom he can suffer also the small small fishes at once becoming his production. The Spanish triton well coexists with gregarious small fishes of the average sizes – barbusam, danio, koridorasam and freshwater shrimps.
