People not always think that the world around – not objective and only reality, and the picture which is created by a brain by means of organs of vision. Various animals, other living beings see the world differently. Cats, for example, possess more wide field of sight, less expressed ability to distinguish colors, ability to see in weak lighting and other features of sight.
Eyes of cats
One of the brightest cat's features are eyes, huge in relation to a body. They occupy a considerable part of the head and have the convex form. If the person had similar proportions, then eyes would have diameter in twenty centimeters. Eyes of a cat are located deeply therefore their movements are limited and if it is necessary to consider something sideways, then the animal should turn the head.The pupil form at a cat is very interesting: extended down, it becomes a narrow strip at bright lighting and extends in the dark. Cats, unlike the person, have the third eyelid which protects an eye.
Sight of catsDomestic cats came from wild predatory cat's and kept all features of sight inherent in predators, it is important to them to see well the victim, to estimate distance to it and to put exact throws and blows. Their eyes are located in front of the person that fields of vision were blocked and created the three-dimensional picture. Therefore these animals see the world three-dimensional, as well as we, and can estimate distances to objects. The field sight at cats wider, than at the person: 200 degrees in comparison with 180. These predators focus sight much better, than the person, approximately three times, but only in short distances. It is possible to tell that cats have short-sightedness – on the remote objects located in twenty and more meters, they are focused badly therefore those for them look indistinct. On a retina at cats in 25 times more sticks, than flasks: it is allowed to see at very weak lighting. The truth opinion on what cats see in utter darkness, is only the myth: eyes cannot distinguish objects in lack of light. But the photosensitivity of cat's eyes strikes: she seven times better sees that it seems to the person complete darkness, for a cat quite comfortable conditions at a lack of lighting. Moreover, at bright light these animals see worse therefore they love the semi-lit, shaded rooms, dark corners. The sight of cats is arranged so that she perceives moving objects without effort, and motionless sees worse, it is feature of predators too. At the same time the horizontal movement is perceived better, than vertical. Long time was considered that these animals are not capable to distinguish colors and see the world black-and-white, but now it is known that cats see distinctions of flowers, just they for them not such bright and contrast, as at the person. Also there is a probability that cats, as well as at other mammals, have no flasks perceiving green color therefore color scale of their world differs a little and reminds a deyteranopiya – one of types of daltonism. But gray cat's distinguish shades perfectly, it is several times better than the person.
