How to install the XML file

XML - eXtensible Markup Language - in translation means "extensible markup language", and this standard is created to introduce uniform rules of writing data to text files. Such way of information storage is not intended for large volumes of data. It is used, for example, for data exchange between several programs or for storage of the constant information displayed in web pages.

Instruction

1. The XML file is not executed, it only contains structured data in text form which use any applications in the course of the work. For example, sometimes such file is necessary at installation of programs, plug-ins to them, additional "skins", etc. In this case the XML file should be placed in the folder where the application in the course of installation should look for it or by preparation of data output to the screen. Find out the address of this folder from the description of the program or the instruction for installation. If the XML file is used by any scripts (for example, in a management system of the website), it is possible to see path to it in the text of the source code of a script. Sometimes the web application which cannot find the XML file gives the error message - in it the full path to a missing component can be specified too.

2. Having learned the address of placement of the file, copy it there, and then start the application. Process of installation of the XML file will also consist in it.

3. Files of this type can be used also as replacement to normal pages of websites. In this case for installation it is necessary or to prescribe you in settings of the server the corresponding directives, or to use other language - XSL (eXtensible Stylesheet Language). It is intended to set inference rules in the browser of the data which are contained in the XML file. If in the file which you need to install, the possibility of an output is provided in the browser, this file should be not one - the component with the xsl extension also should be included in the package. If it is absent, open in any XML file text editor, in line which begins with <? XML-stylesheet, read the name of the missing file and find it.

4. Place both files on the server of your website. In the line mentioned in the previous step specify the location of the auxiliary XSL file - perhaps, it should be stored in some enclosed folder. In this case or create the necessary directory, or correct the address. Installation of the XML file for an output of its contents in a browser window will also consist in the correct placement of these two files.
