Kind of strange it did not sound, but "world wide web" and Internet of a thing absolutely different, at least, definitely not identical. It is possible to call the Internet wide or worldwide network whereas a world wide web - the information space constructed on the basis of the Internet.
Internet
Initially the Internet represented the computer network for information transfer developed at the initiative of the U.S. Department of Defense. The reason was given by the first artificial Earth satellite started by the Soviet Union in 1957. The American military decided that in that case the superreliable communication system is necessary for them. ARPANET not for long was secret and soon began to be used by different branches of science actively.
The first successful session of remote communication was held in 1969 from Los Angeles to Stanford. In 1971 the program for sending e-mail for network which instantly found popularity was developed. The first foreign organizations connected to network were in Great Britain and Norway. With carrying out a transatlantic telephone cable to these countries of ARPANET became the international network.
ARPANET was, perhaps, more perfect, but not the only communication system. And only by 1983 when the American network was filled with the first news groups, bulletin boards and TCP/IP of the protocol which allowed to be integrated into other computer networks switched, ARPANET became the Internet. Literally in a year this rank began to pass gradually to NSFNet - the interuniversity network which had big throughput ability and gained 10 thousand connected computers during the annual period. In 1988 there was the first Internet chat, and in 1989 Tim Berners-Li offered the concept of a world wide web.
World Wide Web
In 1990 ARPANET finally lost NSFNet. It is worth noticing that both of them were developed by the same scientific organizations, only the first - by request of defense services of the USA, and the second - on own initiative. however this competitive couple caused the scientific developments and opening which made a reality a world wide web which in 1991 became public. Berners Li who offered its concept within the next two years drafted the HTTP protocol (hypertext), the HTML language and the identifiers URL which are more familiar to regular users as the Internet addresses, the websites and pages.
The world wide web is the system providing access to files of the server computer connected to the Internet. Partly therefore today concepts of a web and the Internet often substitute each other. Actually, the Internet is technology of communication, a certain information space, and the world wide web fills it. This spidery network of many millions of Web servers - computers and their systems which are responsible for work of websites and pages consists. For accesses to web resources (loadings, viewing) from the normal computer the program the browser is used. A web, WWW - synonyms of the World wide web. Users of WWW are calculated by billions.
