The water hyacinth, or eykhorniya, – water plant are from tropics of South America. Under natural conditions the water hyacinth very quickly expands and can create serious hindrances for navigation, for as is nicknamed "green plague". In the conditions of less hot climate this plant is used by landscape designers for decoration of reservoirs. At subzero temperature of degrees the eykhorniya will not endure wintering, but it is possible to keep this plant till spring, having created it suitable conditions in the heated room.

Instruction
1. In the summer the eykhorniya does not demand special leaving, perfectly feeling in decorative pond. In early autumn, it is desirable to the first frosts, select several plants for wintering in room conditions. Make sure that on their leaves there are no damages and spots of decay. Besides, choose hyacinths younger - it is noticed that young eykhorniya postpone wintering much better.
2. The water hyacinth in containers with water or damp moss sphagnum winters. To place plant roots, take disposable plastic cup and thick needle make openings in its walls. Fill in the prepared capacity mix from equal parts of sand and peat, place plant roots in this soil.
3. Put glass with hyacinth in wide container with otstoyanny water. The height of water in capacity has to be such that leaves of eykhorniya did not concern water. Most often recommend to cut out float from piece of polyfoam, to make opening in its middle and to insert plant into such float. The leaves concerning water begin to rot, in house conditions it can lead to death of all plant.
4. It is possible to place water hyacinth in the container half filled with damp mix from sand and peat. Fill other space of container with sphagnum and support substrate in damp state.
5. Place container with water hyacinth in the lit place without drafts where you will be able to maintain temperature about twenty two degrees. If you are going to put plant on windowsill, enclose under container piece of polyfoam not to overcool roots. The daylight hours for eykhorniya has to last no more than twelve-fourteen hours at additional illumination the fluorescent lamp.
6. Two times a month water hyacinth it is necessary to feed up solution of complex fertilizer for houseplants. If one of plants in container begins to rot, spray eykhorniya with Fitosporina-M solution at the rate of twenty drops of liquid on glass of water.
