As scientists created the lightest material

Till a certain moment the metal foam and silicon aerogel used for isolation of some types of the equipment were considered as the lightest materials, however scientists managed to create substance with a smaller weight.

New extralight material received the name aero graphite. It was created for the subsequent use in the course of production of especially sensitive equipment including space for which work the weight of each detail is very important. In particular, this material has to replace silicon aerogel as has much higher durability and low density allowing aero graphite to contract in several hundreds of times, and then to return the initial form.

Seeking to create the lightest material, the German scientists paid special attention to its structure. It was earlier already repeatedly noted that thanks to the special building even very easy subject can become very strong, and the Eiffel Tower was cited as an example. Material which almost completely consists of air and represents the grid reminding a sponge made of a huge number of carbon tubes was as a result created. All of them interact with each other on a nanolevel and microlevel in three dimensions, providing high plasticity and stability of structure of material.

Thanks to the unusually strong internal structure during which creation the scientists relied on works of architects and on their experience in creation of high, easy and very reliable designs, aero graphite easily maintains both compression, and stretching, being without effort deformed and instantly being returned to a starting position. In spite of the fact that density of material is only 0.2 mg / cubic cm, it is opaque and differs in very deep black color that allows it to absorb light radiation. Besides, it is known that aero graphite well installs electrical equipment that does it by especially valuable material which can be used in various spheres.
