Besides, are a part of Africa: Swaziland, Seychelles, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Republic of South Africa and South Sudan. Most of the listed states throughout a long time were colonies of the European countries. They found the independence in the 50-60th years of the 20th century, at the same time the status of Western Sahara still remains uncertain. All African states are included into the African Union and the United Nations.

Life of the African countries

Till the 20th century only Liberia, the Republic of South Africa and Ethiopia could brag of independence, however discrimination of the indigenous black people in the Republic of South Africa remained till 90th years. Today the last African colonies are located in a northern part of the continent – namely, in the territory of Spain bordering on Morocco, Reunion Island and a number of small islands in the Indian Ocean. The day of Africa is celebrated on May 25 – this day in 1963 the charter about creation of the Organization of African Unity was signed. In spite of the fact that practically all African states have the richest human and natural resources, most of them constantly suffers from overpopulation, poverty, droughts, epidemics and bloody internal wars. Many people of Africa living far from the large cities are deprived of an opportunity to use clear drinking and tap water, and the medicine is almost inaccessible to simple indigenous people. Poverty level in the African countries is catastrophically high – their inhabitants die of diseases, AIDS, drug addiction, and the number of early pregnancy curable today among teenagers exceeds all reasonable limits.
