How to calculate working in shifts coefficient

For the analysis of the fixed assets which are on balance of the organization indicators of efficiency of their use pay off. One of them is the working in shifts coefficient. This indicator characterizes the number of the changes fulfilled by each item of equipment for a certain period of time.

It is required to you

  • Formula for calculation of coefficient of working in shifts of the equipment:
  • Ksm = Emergency/N
  • where Emergency - actually fulfilled number of machines (mashino-changes) per day;
  • N - total number of cash machines (cars).

Instruction

1. Count actually fulfilled number of machines per day. Review the following example of calculation. Let's say in your shop of 10 items of equipment. Work is conducted in three changes per day (each change - 8 hours). In the first change 8 items of equipment, in the second change - 9 units, in the third change - 10 units worked. Put three numbers (8+9+10)=27. This number characterizes how many items of equipment fulfilled in your shop in all changes per day.

2. Calculate working in shifts coefficient on the above-stated formula. Divide actually fulfilled number of machines per day into total number of machines in the shop. In our example - it is 10 items of equipment. So, having divided number 27 into 10 we will receive the working in shifts coefficient equal 2.7. The maximum load factor of the equipment at the three-shift schedule is equal to 3. In our example the equipment is loaded not completely, unused reserves of the shop made 30% (i.e., 3 - 2.7 = 0.3*100%=30%). Similarly coefficients of working in shifts of the equipment on average pay for a month, in a year.

3. Analyze the received results, having calculated working in shifts coefficients for various periods. See a trend in changes of coefficient. Its increase demonstrates fuller use of the production equipment without additional capital investments. If the coefficient of working in shifts tends to decrease, find the reasons of incomplete loading of machines, take measures to elimination of these reasons, count possibilities of fuller use of the equipment of your enterprise.
