How to find a subject

At Russian lessons the school students have to seize not only skills of the competent letter, but also ability to see sentence structure, to allocate it members. For this purpose it is necessary to learn to allocate the main and minor members. How to find a subject in the offer? What its main signs?

Instruction

1. First of all, you have to know that all sentence parts are divided into two groups: main and minor. The main members are a subject and a predicate. They form a grammatical basis of the offer. To find a subject, try to raise a question to a word. It answers a question of the Nominative case (""who?" "or" "that?""). For example, in the offer ""The spring"" to a question ""that will come soon?"" the word ""spring"" answers. It is stated in the offer. Remember that a subject is the principal part of the sentence which designates about whom or about what it is told in the offer. These words usually are expressed by a Nominative case form.

2. Nouns (most often), pronouns, participles, numerals and even an uncertain form of a verb can be a subject. So, ""To live in the offer - to the homeland will serve"" a subject the word ""live"". It is an uncertain form of a verb. Pay attention that in this offer between the main members costs a dash. It occurs, including and when the subject and a predicate are expressed by an uncertain form of a verb. In the offer ""We have well a rest"" the principal part of the sentence answering a question ""who?"" the pronoun ""we"" is.

3. It is simpler to find a subject in the offer in which there is a verb. It is the word designating the one who makes action. Consider the offer: ""Children with pleasure rushed to the river"". You see that in it there is a verb ""rushed"". Define who makes this action. This word will also be a subject. Therefore, the word ""children"" answers a question of the Nominative case, indicates the one who makes action and is the main member in this offer, namely, a subject.

4. Also the indivisible combination of words can be a subject. For example, in the offer ""The man with the child floated down the river"" a subject the phrase ""man with the child"" is. Pay attention to a verb ""floated"". It is used in the form of plural. Therefore also not one word, about a phrase will be a subject. It allows to tell that action makes not one, but two persons.
