1. Sword-bearers reach puberty by 6-8 months. If you got juveniles, surely take an interest at the seller how many months to whitebaits, and since age of their puberty keep "a diary of observations" in time to otsazhivat a samochka from an aquarium in case you want to breed small fishes. But even if you got small fishes not for a divorce, the samochka all the same should be otsazhivat before childbirth as right after them it is too weak, and it, and other inhabitants of an aquarium can regale on whitebaits with pleasure.
2. Fertilization happens in a female and takes about 2 days, and the remained sperm remains in its organism until new caviar ripens. Pregnancy proceeds within 4-6 weeks. Its duration is very strongly influenced by the water temperature (there have to be not below 20-25 °C), duration of light day and the mode of feeding.
3. To define whether the female of the sword-bearer is pregnant. it is possible on the dark stain which appeared at her anal fin. During this period her paunch is inflated and remains to the same, regardless of that, she is hungry or is full. Just before childbirth the female begins to look for secluded places in an aquarium or, on the contrary, rises to its surface. The paunch becomes almost square.
4. If you noticed that the small fish is pregnant, immediately transplant her in in advance prepared aquarium in which it is necessary to place as much as possible vegetation as right after childbirth the weakened female will have no objection "to podzakusit" the kids, and thickets will help them to avoid it.
5. Usually childbirth at a female of the sword-bearer happens in the morning. In a dung – up to 200 whitebaits (a ratio the self-check and males – 3:1). After the delivery a female it is the best of all to transplant. It is necessary to feed whitebaits as often as possible, including a large amount of protein in a diet.
