1. In the nature the age overland skulls is determined on the weight and length of an armor. At the birth the tortoises have ""growth"" - 30-34 mm, weight - the 12-12th. In one year length of an armor is 48-52 mm, weight fluctuates within 25-35 g. In two years ""height"" is about 56-60 mm, weight - 48-65 g. By three years the turtle has an armor 75-90 mm long and 95-150 g weigh. By ten years the males of turtles can reach in length of 13-16 cm, and females of 15-18 cm. As a rule, after ten years growth of turtles comes to an end. In house conditions to determine the age of a turtle it is much more difficult as it is directly connected with conditions of keeping, the terrarium size and also a food allowance.
2. At water turtles a few other standards. Their age is determined, mainly, on armor length. So, newborn tortoises have ""height"" of 2.5-3 cm, by a year - 5-7 cm, to two - 7-9 cm. Then samochka and males begin to grow unevenly. By three years the male will reach 8-12 cm, and a samochka - 9-15 cm. In four years length of a male will be 10-14 cm, females - 13-18 cm. After five years the males of turtles have ""growth"" from 14 cm, a female - from 18 cm. After five years growth slows down and turtles practically do not grow.
3. One more way to determine the age of the pet is to count number of rings on an armor. The first rings appear when the animal is not a year old. Than the turtle is more senior, especially smooth is her armor, and annual rings turn pale. In one year on one ""scale"" 2-3 rings are formed. For exact calculation it is possible to count ringlets on several segments of an armor, and then to remove an arithmetic average. Quantities of rings 100% in the way of determination of age as their quantity depends on conditions of keeping and the number of hibernations at overland turtles are also not.
